Eines der besten japanischen Restaurants in München

The interior of the SHOYA (meaning 'mayor') reminds a little bit of an Argentinian steakhouse, but the owner notes in the menu that this is authentically Japanese. Behind the sushi counter up to three chefs prepare sushi after sushi. Maguro (tuna), Toro (fatty tuna), Hamachi (yellowtail), Tobitama (flying fish roe with a quail's egg), Ebi (shrimp) etc. The fish is very fresh and the sushi pieces are enormous. The prices reflect the sizes of the sushis, but it's worth it and the ebis are definitely the largest in the world. Being a regular you probably get a little something on the house.

As an entrée try Horensogomae (spinach with sesame), Oyazuke (octopus and vegetables invinegar) or shirasuoroshi (tiny fishes with grated radish). Tempura and Sukiyaki are wonderful and a good start for novices to japanese cuisine. There is a great selection of sake which you should try hot or cold in a wooden box. There are several tatami booths where you can enjoy dinner with friends in a quite private athmosphere. As the SHOYA is very popular it's absolutely necessary to reserve
(open 7 days a week).
SHOYA has a second restaurant also called Shoya in the town center close to the world famous Hofbräuhaus.
